Summer Weekends During the Denver 2015 Festival Season
When May rolls around, the flowers aren’t the only thing in bloom across the Mile High City! The Denver 2015 festival season begins its epic run that lasts until September with festivities to celebrate arts and entertainment, food and music! To get you in the festival-going mood, here are a few things to mark on your calendar now!
May
There are lots of celebrations to keep you entertained over Memorial Day weekend! The 16th Mall hosts the Denver Day of Rock (May 23) when more than 20 bands hit the stages along the mile-long stretch to rock ‘n roll you; Denver Comic Con celebrates pop culture from comics to gaming in the Convention Center the entire weekend and for the artists in the group, there’s the Downtown Denver Arts Festival at the Denver Performing Arts Complex with exhibits and art from more than 125 artists.
June
Art fests continue in Larimer Square on June 6-7 when the Denver Chalk Art Festival hits the streets. These artists spend hours on their hands and feet to create absolutely phenomenal works of art! Head on over to the Capitol Hill People’s Fair the same weekend for lots of family fun, food, art and music! Later in the month, Denver’s rock stars hit the 10 stages of the Westword Music Showcase on June 20. Pridefest, the Greek Festival and Juneteenth Music Festival round out June’s fabulous festivals—all worth a visit!
July
A Mile High Fourth of July features lots of fireworks showcases, and the award-winning Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The following weekend, take your pick from the Colorado Irish Festival to celebrate the Emerald Isle or the 29th Annual Colorado Black Arts Festival to hear lots of jazz, blues, reggae and more! Wrapping up the month is the Dragon Boat Festival that gets bigger every year and the Denver Post Underground Music Showcase, South by Southwest Denver-style!
September
The end-cap to a fabulous summer in Denver is always A Taste of Colorado in Civic Center Park over Labor Day weekend! Live music, arts and crafts, and, ah yes, fabulous food from fine dining to the best of food trucks, you will find here.
