Affordable Summer Activities You Will Never Forget

Closing out August always brings sadness to kids of all ages. Summer vacation is over and it’s time to hit the books. Mornings get darker and darker, and the warm dawns break to a cooler, brisker drive to work. Moving the calendar to September always brings a realization that the laid back summer months are over. But why does it have to be? Just because the kids are back in school, and the family vacation to the beach has past, doesn’t mean the summer is over. With our 300 days of sunshine, Colorado is no stranger to extended summer months. Our state is full of fun, affordable summer activities that last into the fall months of September and October. To start things off, visit A Taste of Colorado. Held every year over Labor Day Weekend in Civic Center Park, A Taste of Colorado puts the spotlight on the diversity of Colorado cuisine. Delight your taste buds with creations from the state’s favorite restaurant and food establishments. There’s no going wrong with spending time with your family at A Taste of Colorado. And the best part: admission is free! Looking for something a little less caloric? Take your family to Dinosaur Ridge and walk with a Geologist. You’ll learn about the many different environments, landscapes and how they’ve changed over the last 300 million years. The tour is fully guided by a Dinosaur Ridge geologist and is geared toward adults and teenage kids. A minimal $10 donation per person is required. Dinosaur Ridge is located in Morrison. Fall means football, and if you’re like us a Sloane’s, you love a good football game. If sports are your passion, then take a trip to Sports Authority Field At Mile High and tour the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame Museum. This free museum honors the legacies of the Mile High City’s greatest sports heroes, and features the Gallery of Legends, a “Great Moments in Colorado Sports” exhibit and a selection celebrating the achievements of girls and women in Colorado Sports. If you’re looking for more of activity, try one of the many bike trails Denver has to offer. Denver is home to a massive network of more than 850 miles of paved, off-road trails that crisscross throughout the seven county metro areas. Paved trails connect to hundreds of additional miles of dirt trails, offering mountain bike adventures. Grab your helmet and take a trip with your family through the beauty of Colorado on two-wheels. Regardless of the activity, Sloane’s Carpet Secret reminds you to have fun, and to make sure and stay cool in the summer heat.
