Clean Carpets for Summer Survival Guide
As Colorado’s summer heats up and we all get prepped for camping, hiking, swimming and all the other outdoor attractions Colorado is known for, we should also take steps now to protect our carpets from damage from this increase summer activity. At Sloane’s Carpet Secret we think you should be having a blast so we compiled an easy four-step process to ensure dirt free and clean carpets for summer!
While this may seem like a no brainer to keep grass, mud and gravel from being tracked inside, it is also easy to forget. Just be upfront and tell everyone that shoes stay at the entryway. Soon it’ll become a habit for everyone and you won’t have to worry about nagging your family or company to stop tracking dirt into the house.
Mats Are Your Friend
Even when you have a strict no-shoes-in-the-house policy, it’s still good to have mats at each doorway as a backup. Mats trap additional dirt before anyone walks on the carpet. Just by having the mat at each door will remind everyone to wipe their feet before entering the house. You can never have too many precautions while trying to keep your carpet clean.
Vacuum Like It’s Going Out of Style
No matter how many precautions you’ve set in place, there is still going to be dust and dirt tracked in on your clothes, outdoor equipment and pets. Vacuum weekly, and as needed, to avoid little specks of dirt from being ground into the carpet. If you stay on top of it you’ll have much less to worry about at the end of the summer and your carpet will still look clean.
Clean Your Carpets Regularly
Each season presents a new challenge as a carpet owner. At minimum, you should clean your carpets annually, but it doesn’t hurt to do it more in rooms that get heavy use. Due to heavy traffic levels in your house during the summer, we recommend cleaning your carpets in September. This way you’ll be able to remove whatever remnants of summer are still in your house and the carpets will be good to go for fall.
